I work as an international manager for an international NGO, and in my spare time I’m doing what I can to take on the world of triathlon.  So far the world of triathlon is winning – that’s what makes it fun.

In June I moved to Afghanistan to take a dream job, which put a major wrench in plans to compete at Ironman Louisville 2011.  With competition seemingly out of the question, though, this has raised a new question: is it possible to train effectively for an Ironman in Afghanistan, where I can’t even walk on the street, and where lap pools seem to be all but non-existent?  To be determined.
